Molly.Com, Inc. No More?
Today I learned that my company, Molly.Com, Inc. goes the way of poor banks and bad stocks.
People forget to pay, I forget to ask, and I’ve never been audacious enough to ask for donations for I have no idea what I can return.
Molly.Com won’t be going anywhere, but the company itself as a U.S. incorporation is no more. I’ve now returned to the life of a sole proprieter.
It was a grand few decades.

Are you doing a true sole proprietorship, or an LLC? There are some really great advantages to the whole LLC setup.
I much prefer you as a person then as an incorporation
I hope your leg is better…
Make sure you are protection your assets well. Without the protection of an LLC or an inc, your personal stuff can be seized if things go south.
You should try Freshbooks (freshbooks.com) – it’s the *only* reason I ever get paid! It does all the nasty reminders for you.
Working on becoming an LLC as well…(and HEAL!)
Sorry to hear about the loss of the corporation, Molly. I do have to second the recommendations of the others though – file for an LLC so you can protect your personal assets if anything goes wrong.
I also hope your ankle heals properly too – those Flickr photos make it look really bad.
Ahh Molly, the freedom of winging it from a home office without a corporate care in the world – enjoy your new opportunities.
Norty Pig, although not a corporation, met a similar fate after 3 years.
Good luck with it.
Molly… Don’t make the mistake and just get the LLC. It barely costs anything, especially compared to what is at risk.
Get well!
Erm – check the law in your state. And any state you do business in. Some states do *not* grant LLC protections to sole-proprietors. Even if you go to the expense of setting up an LLC. (Sure, they’ll take your money and process your forms – it’s not for the government to ask what you intend to do with your business!)
New York State, for instance, doesn’t differentiate between a sole proprietor and an LLC that has exactly one shareholder. That was legal advice I received when I set up my woodworking company and made furniture, but your situation might be different. (Oddly enough, I got the advice free. At a seminar sponsored by NYS, and the SBA. I thought that important enought to mention.)
What’s wrong with your toe? (PS: My wife has had some toe problems. I can empathize! Sorry.)

Dear Pumpkin: dang, wish i was around to help heal that ankle and foot . some good full plant comfrey, not bad like its reputation . really… on things like that it heals deep and well. Please listen to the LLC advice. I finally came back to senses after a seventh brain tumor surgery for a spell it seems. “takes a major lickin and keeps on tickin”.. the herbs, the meditaions, Chi Kung and shiatsu have kept me going past the last death sentence they gave me. ha. Blessings on YOU DEAR HEART. Loving Healing thru the miles. Hugs 2U by the Celestial Delivery Service. ole me .
heed the advice of ice and elevation for sure. from the look of the photos and knowing you all those years…. you will stubbornly take care of yourself for sure.. my license is still good despite being paraplegic. I worry about ligament damage and possible fracture.. yep you can get a stress fracture that needs addressed if they did not do an adequate X-Ray… Grade I Ankle Sprain:
Grade I ankle sprains cause stretching of the ligament. The symptoms tend to be limited to pain and swelling. Most patients can walk without crutches, but may not be able to jog or jump.
Grade II Ankle Sprain:
A grade II ankle sprain is more severe partial tearing of the ligament. There is usually more significant swelling and bruising caused by bleeding under the skin. Patients usually have pain with walking, but can take a few steps.
Grade III Ankle Sprain:
Grade III ankle sprains are complete tears of the ligaments. The ankle is usually quite painful, and walking can be difficult. Patients may complain of instability, or a giving-way sensation in the ankle joint.
sorry this is so long. ya know all this I know… from my PDA stuff… however as Stubborn Mol needs to have things repeated occasionally
Ice:
For the first 48 hours post-injury, ice pack and elevate the ankle sprain 20 minutes at a time every 3-4 hours. The ice pack can be a bag of frozen vegetables (peas or corn), allowing you to be able to re-use the bag. Another popular treatment method is to fill paper cups with water then freeze the cup. Use the frozen cube like an ice cream cone, peeling away paper as the ice melts. Do NOT ice a ankle sprain for more than 20 minutes at a time!! You will not be helping heal the ankle sprain any faster, and you can cause damage to the tissues!
Compression:
Use compression when elevating the ankle sprain in early treatment. Using an Ace bandage, wrap the ankle from the toes all the way up to the top of the calf muscle, overlapping the elastic wrap by one-half of the width of the wrap. The wrap should be snug, but not cutting off circulation to the foot and ankle. So, if your foot becomes cold, blue, or falls asleep, re-wrap!
Elevate:
Keep your ankle sprain higher than your heart as often as possible. Elevate at night by placing books under the foot of your mattresses–just stand up slowly in the morning.
More severe ankle sprain injuries, including complete tears of the ligaments and fractures of the bone may need different treatment and rehab than a simple ankle sprain. It is important that you see your doctor before beginning treatment or if your symptoms do not steadily improve over time.
And Lots of Love from Yer Friends … and Honey Bun for sure.
oh yeah sorry so long…. whole leaf comfrey oil or ointment topically.. remember besides primary care i got thiry two years alternative practice and trainingin AZ with Grandfather and in Mexico with Curanderos etc . ha.. heals bone bruises and bad sprains well. if ya ever take the tea. remember too much too long can cause liver problems. be well Mol. love ya. as always.
oops. saw pics.captions. . seven days ago? hope ya got evaluated for ligament tears and such for sure. after the initial ice that long ago. Now need heat and elevation. But most of all evaluated if it is not much better.. still. ligament damage and hairline fracture that can cause more probs later. and blood clots anytime. i am taking up too much space. sorry wont do this more. take care Molly ..belly scratches to Honey Bunny.
Not to be a Pusher, but –
You know, I read a book earlier in the year when I was all sad and mopey about my career that really helped focus me on my issues. It’s called “Overcoming Underearning”. It is geared towards women and the whole “why women make less than men” issue (hint: because women don’t ask for it), but my boyfriend read it (who is not an “underearner”) and still learned a lot for his own career. I got a lot of clarity and self-confidence from it – might help you, too.
There is a cheaper, paperback version that I have, but I linked to the hardcover version for the reviews.
After two decades of fighting the machine and working towards web standards, you are left in this predicament. While you are having some of your livelihood disappear, Bill Gates via his foundation is giving money away to scientist to develop techniques to allow Mosquitoes to transmit vaccines to the third world.

Where are my Mosquitoes zappers and swatters. I may need to use them.
thank you molly
