The old, original Nintendo / NES.
My parents eventually bought me one, dad brought it from a trip to america.
Thing is, it was the NTSC version and we had a PAL TV.
I still remember sitting in front of the powered off TV and the console with loose cables, holding the controller in my hands and pretending to play Super Mario for hours.
Good times!

But, I’m married now so I might have to hold off on dinner with Molly… unless she wants to come over for dinner and amuse the wife and I with client horror stories over some nice wine, a gourmet meal, and an exquisite cheeseboard.

I always wanted an Easy Bake Oven but my parents never got one for me. I had to rely on my friends who had them.
I got a dirtbike but then it got sold by my father for drug money
the funniest part is that I’m not even joking, even a little bit.
in retrospect, the freedom to ask myself “what do I want”… took me 30+ years to come to terms with this and finally start asking… most of the small wishes were granted (dungeons and dragons electronic board game comes to mind)- though mostly on birthdays!
When I was very little, I always wanted one of those power wheels. I never got one. Looking back, growing up in a mountain town, having one probably wouldn’t have been all that great. Probably wouldn’t have gone far.
Sometimes it is the things we don’t get that turn out to be the best of all.
I used to pray in bed – every night – to be 5 feet tall or more – but it didn’t happen – I think that’s why I am an agnostic!

Coming from a lower-middle-class family with 3 kids, my parents were unsparingly generous about giving us the things we wanted/needed. I suppose we were also good at not wanting things we knew they couldn’t afford. I remember telling my dad one day that I wanted a half-pipe. The very next weekend we bought some lumber and built one in the back yard. I was only in middle school at the time, but it didn’t take me long to discover that “professional skateboarder” wasn’t a good career fit.
The only one i miss is peace round the world. Some wishes will never end ….

I noticed someone above wrote that they always wanted an Easy Bake Oven. well, I did, too. Back in the 60’s I asked for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas, but I got a set of baking mixes, cakes, muffins, etc… for the EBO. What fun was that. Always talked about it, and about 8 years ago, my grown children bought me one for Christmas.
