Thirty Percent Likely to be Humorous
After a few of the responses to that last silly post, I realized that people sometimes take me far too seriously. So here’s a short list to know when I’m being humorous:
- - The post is tagged with “humor” or “just fun” or both
- - There’s one word in a post that has a long subject line (dead giveaway)
- - There’s a pun somewhere in the content that is either glaringly obvious or super subtle and negates whatever I’m saying
- - If it really seems like I’m being funny rather than serious, apply the 30/50 rule (30 percent likely to be humorous)
- - Ask me
Of course, I’m probably delusional to think I’m ever funny in the first place, but I’ll leave that to your judgment.
How funny are you?
:P

Hi Molly,
I thought it was pretty humorous, but there again I’m displaced by about a third of the planet, and probably my brain has a different warp on it.
Maybe it’s all those people who are plugged into the Matrix that aren’t having any fun, and just think that every one has to be serious.
Only thirty percent Hmm, you really are serious:-)
How about aiming for 90%, and even when you’re serious, people will have fun and heap sunshine and blue skies all over them.
I say, don’t worry. Your posts are really good!

I thought the religion tag was a very funny giveaway to you joking.

I think you are a seriously funny woman.

I’m not funny; I have no sense of humour! It’s all very serious, all the time

Humorous or not, when you state your opinion on something people will make sure you know their opinion too.
But since you weren’t being serious I’m going to assume you were being sarcastic, and that’s OK with me.

so the line that sets this one off as humorous is
“Of course, I’m probably delusional to think I’m ever funny in the first place”
right? Ridiculous statement presented as fact.

I’m high-larious…
And fantastically good-looking…
And Modest…

You were obviously being light-hearted in the previous blog post.
Me: I’m not all that funny, I can’t even remember the last time I made someone laugh, in person, or on the Web.

Found your last post funny.
Find this one funny too.
I’m so funny that I have to travel with extra underwear in all sizes.
When I tell a joke some people lose control.
Some times even Alt + Ctrl.
And once Alt + Ctrl + Del.
But that was only once.
And I am not sure it was a consequence of my joke.
I like to think it was.
That I am deadly funny.

You know by now Molly. During my official Microsoft fanboy indoctrination, both my sense of humour and a small piece of my prefrontal cortex were removed. In addition, we’re all allergic to shiny white plastic and black turtle necks.
Hopefully this explains future behavior from me and the rest of the collective.

Ah Interesting thought at your sentence “- The post is tagged with “humor” or “just fun” or both”
I guess the tag is in the keywords of the feed, but not visible in most feed readers. I’m pretty sure you know already where I’m heading at: visible versus hidden data. In my feedreader I have the date, your name, the name of the blog, and the text BUT not the tags. The post is basically decontextualized from its tags.
Tags are for the author or tags are for the public. It depends on the tools you are using to read the content.
I’m used to be subscribed to my own feeds, to understand how people are likely to read what I write.

Hmm - I think a quote from a movie (guess which one this is) says it best:
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

I think I am very funny which means I am not funny at all
May 17th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I’m always cracking me up. And if the world doesn’t get it, no prob. Also no prob, I’m used to being the only one in the movies laughing at some crazy line no one else gets.
And now I know you are funny too.

Well, a mac will consistently keep the rain off you, whereas a window will only do so when it’s closed.
