W3C HTML5 Working Draft Published
Today the W3C announced that it has formally published the W3C working draft version of HTML5.
According to Tim Berners-Lee:
“I am glad to see that the community of developers, including browser vendors, is working together to create the best possible path for the Web”
Clearly, Tim remains as optimistic as ever, but from the evidence of the last few weeks, it’s clear this isn’t exactly as happy a situation as it’s made out to be. But, the work is continuing, and that’s noteworthy in and of itself.

Should be emphasis on “possible” in “best possible”.
What is “possible” is what is left after the arguing
But enough of this internets thingy — inquiring minds want to know how your adventures in FNQ are going.

@gavin j: I’m actually in WA now - Perth, to be precise. Adventures are going fab, although I’m flagging a little today. 12,200+ miles of travel in one week, wshew!

TB-L’s comment is PR but I don’t think his optimism is unfounded, nor is his comment about developers and browser vendors. We *are* working together — just not agreeing that much

Thanks! I’ve read through that post a few times already. Haven’t had a chance to get through the comments though. Your observation, “We are some of the world’s smartest, most innovative, committed and passionate people.”, brings to mind that a fair dose of ‘ego, stubbornness, and perseverance’ is hard wired into these personalities as well. Which can even make working on a common cause rather difficult at times.

Hallelujah! It is possible to believe in the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa. I just never believed that HTML5 would ever be any more real than the aforementioned.
