Tucson Monsoon

photo

Just in case anyone wonders why Tucson.

I had a perfect, clear view of the entirety of the lunar eclipse last night but unfortunately not a good enough camera. Talk about awesome. Emphasis on awe.

yup.. i remember a partial lunar eclipse a few months back, the moon is so small especially if you have a crappy camera and if you move a bit it smudges!.. oh well

I grew up in Tucson. At the age of 17, when I was applying to colleges, I could not wait to leave that town. I had been bored for years, and wanted to be as far as possible (in fact, I realized later that I had only applied to colleges on the coasts).

Anyway, my parents (and my wife’s parents) still live in Tucson–and when I go there now, I love it. It’s just so beautiful, it smells so good after the rain, the sky and the desert and the mountains and the wildlife are fantastic.

I couldn’t appreciate it as a kid, but as an adult I love it.

Well here in Australia it was clear skies for the lunar eclipse, really quite spectacular as the moon turned a blood red then orange colour, we were lucky nothing was in the way for the beautiful sight. By the way, nice blog :)

LOL nice picture! My last moon eclipse was in mountains in eastern europe. Strange experience…

As a designer I loved it. It just cheered me up

  8. Nico says:

Nevertheless, it has become a nice picture. Unfortunately, the lunar eclipse was not to be observed here in Europe.

  9. Wow, what a great picture – it looks like painted by Monet ;-)

I’d appreciate with rene – it looks like the painting of a famous impressionist. Did you think about printing the picture on a canvas for your livingroom? :-)

  12. Andrew says:

Tucson is purdy, for sure, but I still think New Mexico is far more beautiful. I’m biased, but …

    Molly,

Another handy answer you can always have ready when someone asks you “Why Tucson” is to say “Its Not Phoenix”:)

Having lived here in the Phoenix area for 13 years (and looking forward to relocating family and business to Seattle in a couple of years) I have come to appreciate Tucson more over the years as being more “Arizona” than Phoenix. Strip malls and sprawl are inevitable aspects of living out west nowadays but Tucson (save for Speedway Blvd) has growth and still maintains beauty and a bit of character.

Same problem different city. I was out by the beach in Toronto (yes we have one) and we had a wicked pink evening sky. Crap camera equals crap photo all the time.

  17. Baukosten says:

    Great picture. Cool athmosphere.

Pretty, but not nearly as pretty as thee, lady.

    Blasting from the past.
