MaxJet: The Little Airline That Could?
So MaxJet is a little airline with a big promise: All business class from major US destinations to London Stansted. For the price give or take 200 quid of economy class on other carriers.
The first time I flew MaxJet I left from Las Vegas and everything was great! Service exceptional, on time flight, on time arrival to Stansted, everything promised - delivered, and delivered well.
So I booked them again, this time leaving Stansted to JFK and switching over to another carrier to get home. MaxJet is a small carrier, not too many planes. They had a little tune up problem. That meant a full day delay.
So this is what they provided:
- Immediate room and meals with free wifi accommodations at the SAS Radisson Stansted with a very generous dinner voucher
- Breakfast - Full English (oh, I do like that)
- Paid limousine service to Heathrow (if you know where Stansted is you know this isn’t a minor journey!)
- Upper Class tickets on Virgin (flat sleeper seats, etc.) plus connections to home
Okay, cool, that was fine with me! I was already impressed! Then, today, I get an email from MaxJet telling me that between now and next year I can come to London at their upper class service, round trip, for free.
I can work with this. I really can. Apparently, if I fail, I just end up upper on Virgin. This works for me.
Thanks MaxJet

A little hunger .. a little fear .. the need to win, all good things.
Hey, Holzschlag, the next time you fly that route, I know one of the pilots who works that flight. When you board, holler out, “Hi, Jack!!” He and the crew will look after you. Honest.

Reminds me of when we had some Frequent Flyer miles to LA. Planned was a long trip with a stop in the middle. We got bumped, but the ticket agent put us in 1st Class on the next direct flight to LA…
Oooh, the hardship.
Well done on MaxJet. Maybe you could try JetBlue and let us know?.. Sorry.

We need that airline here (Australia), wow I’ve never heard of such service it’s like a fantasy. Here it would be “tough the flight was delayed”, you would be lucky to get a 1 star overnighter.

I’m impressed too - what a great way to travel around! MaxJet are doing what some other, big name airlines should have been doing for awhile now.
Free trip too - excellent!

Nice to see an airline actually trying. I keep flying Southwest, which is akin to being herded like cattle.

[…] Northwest doesn’t give super-fancy upgrades like the one that Molly got, but so long as they get me home to Punky regularly, that’s all I need. […]

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article MaxJet: The Little Airline That Could?, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.

Maxjet…Ha! If they treat their 30 yr old planes anything like they treat their emps then one of ‘em is sure to ditch in the drink!

I’ve flown MaxJet London-Las Vegas return. The whole experience was wonderful. It cost less than the big-name carriers charge for goat class. I only ever fly first or business class and the seats were as comfortable as any. As for Andy’s comments about their aircraft being 30 years old, that would be difficult; the plane they use (Boeing 767) came into use 25 years ago. MaxJet’s oldest plane is 23 years old (I’m not a boring statto, I looked it up).
