New Photos: From Austin to Seattle to Boston

I’ve finally caught up with publishing photos to date. Got some from SXSW, my visit to Seattle and Microsoft, and a few early shots from here at An Event Apart.

This snap is in Bellevue, Washington, on a foggy morning. I love its mystery.

If you’re in Boston and/or attending AEA, shout it out!

Some gorgeous photos there, as always.

  2. Steven Clark Says:

As an impoverished uni student (although not young) my envy is with you - nice pics :)

  3. Dale Cruse Says:

See you in a couple of hours at AEA Boston!

  4. Ian Muir Says:

I wish I could be there since it’s in my backyard, but I spent all my money on SXSW.

Hopefully I scrounge up some more clients and go to more stuff next year. If you need any ideas for interesting stuff to do in Boston / New England let me know.

  5. Ash Says:

I used to live right around the corner from there. I loved the rain when I first lived there but had to move because of seasonal affective disorder.

Your presentation at An Event Apart was really good. I especially enjoyed your brief overview of browser history. I feel like your speech could have been even better if you had done two things:

    (1)
You gave Opera brief creds for embedding in other devices, but you didn’t really talk about how that’s made its desktop client different (because of company focus, etc.). Opera is probably the best browser available for Windows Mobile devices. And you didn’t really go into the implications of Opera’s embedding in devices like the Nintendo Wii.

It was really disappointing that I couldn’t even get your latest slides off your own website. I understand that, like many presenters at AEA, you like to work on your slides up until the last minute. But with so many laptops & wireless connections around, it seems like you should be able to upload the latest version in a few minutes (even if it’s while you’re talking on stage).

In spite of these two minor gripes, I really did enjoy your presentation. I learned more about browsers in the past hour than I have in the past month. Thank you!

  7. Molly Says:

Cristos - I apologize re: slides but I did mention this during the talk. If you see this, come find me so I can give them to you personally. If we’ve missed each other, I’ll make sure you get a copy.

Thanks for your input re: Opera and I’m glad you found the talk enjoyable!

  8. Jeff L Says:

  10. Eleanor Says:

Hi Molly! It was great chatting with you at the AEA party. Your presentation was inspiring. Rose and I decided that you are THE web rock star.

Thanks for helping make AEA the best conference I have ever attended.

  11. Frederick Townes Says:

Molly, you did a phenomenal job @ AEA! Your session definitely opened quite a few eyes to things we take for granted when working on our sites and why things are as they are.

    Cheers!

  12. David Moffitt Says:

Molly - great chatting with you! AEA was incredible, you all did a great job :)

I specifically wanted to thank you for the suggestions re: joining the HTML5 working group, it’s exciting to be part of shaping this growing mess, er, project we call the WWW, and I greatly appreciate both that “they” want “our” input and that you enabled me to do so! Good luck working with the Evil Empire, I’m not gonna lie, when you said something about “… when IE8 comes” I was certainly thinking “oh no, there will be ANOTHER Gorilla?) but with the right people making suggestions, hopefully it’ll be transparent as far as rendering / specs and just about UE.
