Somewhere Outside London
Due to a series of unplanned, messy and ultimately just plain crap circumstances I’m somewhere outside of London instead of celebrating a wedding I was planning to attend. I’m feeling pretty low as a result, although I’m sure my mood will pick up later this week when I’m in London proper and can visit with friends and so forth.
My Carson Workshop, CSS for Developers, with Andy Clarke, still has some seats left on the 19th. I’d love to see you there! If you’re thinking of going, please don’t hesitate to post if you have any questions about the event. There’s also a Geek Dinner for me on the 20th, which I hope anyone in London and vincinity who is interested and able will come out for and enjoy dinner and geeky conversations and just plain old good fun.
And any pick-me up jokes, words of comfort, and general help-make-Molly-feel-better tales you might have will be very welcomed!

So where outside London, think beer opportunities damn-it
Hey Richard: I would normally have done so by default but I quit drinking not very long ago as part of my get-me-healthier plan. I have to be tempted by other vices these days
When are you guys/gurus doing something in the Northern. I can’t come to London everytime. Just because of that I seriously plan moving down south again (if I stay in the UK)

Perhaps time to consider the Molly.com reader frappr ( http://www.frappr.com ). That way you’ll never ( to a given degree of never mind you ), be stuck somewhere outside of somewhere, but rather 10 minutes away from x, 20 minutes away from z etc. Issues being the acorns of opportunity ( and other management-esque drivel ).
Take for today for example, given the geographic job landscape of the UK you’re likely to be under an hour away from quiet a large percentage of the UK web standards community (noting comments a large number read the articles here).

I had hoped to in Newcastle as well. It must be so frustrating to be so close and yet so far.
We have to console ourselves with the knowledge that we have a lifetime of days to spend with Meri and Elly, and that they’re both the sort to enjoy the small gatherings with you at least as much as the grand celebrations.
Simon’s photo did bring a smile to my face on an otherwise dreary weekend.

I am MUCH better now, especially knowing that Stuart got my food. Although I must admit, I’m surprised it wasn’t Simon . . .
Or you could try listening to this British classic (also from Monty Python, but which at that link comes with some mostly funny multimedia illustrations from the football world).
I heard a heartwarming story about the UK losing out on a bid for the Olympic Games or something, and a large crowd of Brits gathered to celebrate had just seen themselves lose. There was a moments stunned silence, then a lone voice struck up “Always look on the bright side of life…”, and the whole crowd picked up the tune. I wish I’d been there.
