CSS for Designers London Workshop Early Bird Discount

IN NOVEMBER I get to do something I always enjoy: Go to the U.K. This time, it’s for a workshop I’m co-presenting along with Andy “Malarkey” Clarke. Here’s a bit about the event:

The course is aimed specifically at helping visual people start designing in CSS. Throughout the day we will look at how CSS can be used to manage space, shape, colour, typography and other aspects of graphic design. It is an essential course for any designer who wants to move from creating restrictive table-based grid layouts to using more fluid CSS-based layouts. There will be visual examples from other genres of design including fine arts, architecture and product design to show you exactly what can be done with CSS. There will also be plenty of time to ask specific questions or pose individual problems on the day.

We hope to see you there! Early bird registration continues through Friday and comes along with a discount. For registration and additional information, please see the event home page.

I’ve already considered attending…(I’d have to pay for it out of my own pocket though – steeeeeep!) – I really want to go, but doubt that I can (hmmm????)

Plus: it’s my 30th the following weekend – so I have to save some cash up for that one (should be crazy – planning something big!)

Would be great to meet you at some stage (but who knows when?)

  2. Dominic says:

you should come up to leeds :) i never meet anyone from microsoft :( they never come here, btw while im here any chance of someone adding me to the IE7 beta list :)

(you never get anywhere if you dont ask)

  3. Sian says:

There’s exciting! and in the Hilton too. I’m definately going to thing about it.

Matt: tell you what, you make it to our workshop, we’ll make sure you get a rock n’ roll happy birthday from us. A little secret, it happens to be Clarkey’s birthday the Sunday following our workshop. But he’s not going to be 30. :X

Dominic: Leeds, well c’mon down to London. FYI, I’m not from Microsoft. I contracted with MSN for about five years in the early 90s, and I’m working with them via WaSP. So I don’t really have any access to offer for betas, but you might try the developer network msdn.microsoft.com for more information.

Sian: Oh, if you don’t show I’ll be heartbroken! It would be soooo great to meet you finally and beyond fun to have you in the workshop.

  5. Dominic says:

Molly, sorry i got confused, as a web developer who applyed for the IE7 beta in every way possible ive taken to begging on any blog related to microsoft and IE7 :)

and to do with coming to london well im a full time student so no money and until my website launches its not gonna change for a while :)

however i am always up for learning more advanced css techniques so can i ask do you release any of your materials or notes on the web

while im here and your talking about Wasp (im a big standards guy! :) gotta love em) is there any progress with the dreamweaver guys to conform to standards with the WYSIWYG editor because when i last looked it hadnt been posted in a while

also i have to thank you for working with the ms devs with IE7 to get us webbys some more advanced css stuff to play with that will work with many of the other browsers but my main bug is that everyones very happy about this and is going to use these immediatly, the college where i work/ study is still running on windows 98 with ie 5.5 its going to be 5+ years before ie 7 becomes the main browser

(im a FF guy as well but i dont believe until it comes pre installed with windows that its gonna topple IE)

anyway thats my rant over :)

    ill be back

  6. Dominic says:

  7. Matt Robin says:

Molly: Clarkey’s birthday is the day after mine?! *blinks with surprise* …..It’s very tempting (I’ll see what I can do)

  8. Molly says:

Matt: no, the session is the 17th, the birthday in question is the 20th. It’d be lots of fun to finally meet ya.

Dominic: Thanks for your thoughts. No, not *with* MSN – that was years ago. I’ve been a steering committee member of WaSP since 2000.

  9. Matt Robin says:

Molly: Oh, I see! (Getting my days muddled there for a bit). Yes, it would be fun to meet you and that Clarkey bloke too! :)

  10. Faruk Ateş says:

They should organize one in Amsterdam *coughcough* :-)

  11. Mark Norman Francis says:

Now, if only there was a course such as “Design for Visually Challenged Muppets”. Highly complex CSS I can do. Design, that’s hard.

  12. Mark,
Put me down for a place on that course (I expect it will be somewhat oversubscribed).

  13. Molly says:

Mark: all the more reason you should be in that class, my sweet. Come, come.

Richard: If we fill up day one, we’ll add another day. Cuz we’re cool like that ;-)

Seriously folks, show up. We’re going to have so much fun, learn together, socialize, laugh. It’s an awesome opportunity for us and we know that our job is to make it an awesomes opportunity for you, too. So sign up, we’re like Doritos Chips: We can make more.

    :)
