YAWTF - Yet Another WaSP Task Force

Look! It’s YAWTF (Yet Another WaSP Task Force).

Yes, WaSPs have been busy. And while our various other WTF’s are zipping right along in their activities (a detailed report from the hive will be upcoming first week in August) our brand new and very exciting DOM Scripting Task Force has been created. The official press release provides more information.

Whether your interest is as simple as wanting to add a clean, accessible behavior layer to your work; to understand DOM standards better; to write JavaScript more effectively; or to move forward with AJAX and other contemporary, dynamic browser technologies, the DOM Scripting Task Force is working to not only evangelize current practices, but help provide you with the resources to do just that.

On behalf of my colleagues at WaSP and all readers here, I happily and heartily welcome this TF to the hive.

    DOMWTF!

This is excellent news Molly - WaSP really are pioneering in the best way possible. I wish this new TF every success…(converting us all into DOM-bots…err..I mean, fans of DOM!)
    ;-)

Great news Keep up the good work.

I made a Free seminar for promoting web standards in Egypt.

Molly, the acronym in your title is edging dangerously close to “YAWN….” (Only joking!)

Seriously though, I’ve been designing websites here in Northern Ireland for a few years and have recently given up tables for a standards-based approach. AJAX has seemingly appeared out of nowhere, but I’m excited about this as a way to provide a better browsing experience.

At the JavaScript meeting after @media, I actually jokingly offered the name DOMinion turning us all into DOM minions…

But then again this might have been the DS9 overdose. Now that DAX is dead, I can do more for the task force.

    Gerard -

If it’s edging dnagerously close to “YAWN” blame it on me… lol.

I also like the way they have their own page/site:

At first I thought, “Hey, good new look for WaSP!” then it dawned on me…it was only for the DOM-inators!
But that’s good in it’s own way…makes them more ’special’ doesn’t it?
