WordPress 1.5 Upgrade Day
Wordpress is now at Version 1.5. Congratulations.
Great – now I know what I’ll be doing at 1 AM. Gee… thanks!
I love WordPress and I have three weblogs to upgrade (six or seven if I finally figure out how to import them) and this is great news.
But you’re braver than me if you’re willing to upgrade on the day of release… I try to avoid being an early adopter. So tomorrow’s upgrade day for me…
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to update for several version snow because the hosting service I use is on PHP 4.0.26. So until they upgrade to 4.1, I have to sit back and wait.
I want to upgrade, yet I also fear it. I have seven blogs I’ll have to take down and reinstall. Something will go wrong.
*smack*, the sound of forehead hitting desktop
John, take a look at this upgrade guide, it might squash some of your fears.
Sorry, typed ‘hrf’ instead of ‘href’, lets try this again.
Molly-
It was great to meet you at the party.
Woohoo Molly is now on WordPress!
Upgrading from 1.2.2 to 1.5 was a breeze! I made a copy of the directory I had 1.2.2 in, and then just removed all of the files there.
I copied over the new files, and then copied over the settings file (database and username settings file) from the backup dir and ran the upgrade script. No probs! Works great!
I even made a database backup before I did all of that with mysqldump but I didn’t have any problems.
