marriage proposal
MARRY ME, PLEASE? I’m looking for a wonderful eligible bachelor interested in a crazy vivacious woman. Arranged marriages appeal to me. I seem to have failed at the romantic variety.
I’m loud, obnoxious and opinionated. This apparently is at odds with my totally sweet disposition and completely persuasive sensual nature.
I don’t want to try any more. I can’t take the heartache. I’m looking for the one. The companion. We will see each other through. Lean on me, I have broad shoulders. But please dear god let me lean on you, too.
You know what, if I can’t get some good marriage proposals via my site, I’m not working hard enough.

Sounds good, Molly. I’m sick of the whole “dating game” myself. Except that I might be too young for you. I need to find someone who is strong-willed (stubborn) so that I don’t walk all over her. My last girlfriend couldn’t make her own opinion, and that was very frustrating. I’d have to warn you, though, that I can be rather strong-willed myself. You could drop me a line… the worst that would happen is we both get a good laugh out of it.

Just to add a few words to my earlier comment - while it’s wonderful to be happily married, it’s totally different than wanting to be happily married. A blanket proposal such as this could easily be construed as being more in love with the idea of marriage than in love with the person you’re marrying. I don’t think a lot of people who do get married worry about … until the divorce lawyer is retained.

May I ask, why do you do want/need to be married? Are you lonely, or do you fear being alone? I say this because I don’t recommend marriage if you can live without it. But if your motivation is something else, e.g., to have kids, for the sex (ha! it doesn’t exist in marriage), for economic reasons, or out of a fear of being alone, then please tell us more. Because you really need not be married to fulfill these. If you want to be married reasons other than these, such as companionship with a lifelong friend, then that’s far more noble.

Don’t buy that whole “strong women are scary” thing; there are many men who actually view them as Another - not The Other - and aren’t afraid. Feminism also produced one pretty excellent quote:

Well… I don’t know about marriage per se, but if you wouldn’t mind a companion, I’m available. Here are my particulars:
* Web developer, middleware and database (Oracle) as well;
* VB.Net, and because my boss makes me, ASP and VB6 for COM+;
* Basically enterprise developer, ASP/VB/COM+/Oracle, large systems, transactional and etc for a state government;
* Despite his Microsoft-related servitude, LOVES standards, Java, etc; would use LAMP if his boss were hip to it.
Oh, and SWM, 34, tall, stocky, ex-Marine and very handy for those desert-island scenarios. Can build, repair, etc, PCs, laptops, servers, set up networking, build a firewall, you name it. Glasses. Tattoos. Linux and OS/X at home, windows at work. Doesn’t really drink, doesn’t do drugs, very zen and laid back. Video games, science fiction, movies, dark bars with blues or something mellow playing, OR loud, ear-bleeding techno (but can’t dance).

The snow is falling softly as it lands upon the ground,
The night is very quiet and I cannot hear a sound.
I stand and look at all the flakes so big and fluffy now,

It seems that life is like a blanket of the fallen snow,
Accumulated through the years, to make life as we know. Friends and loved ones came to us as with the pretty flakes, One at a time, each beautiful, to mold our lives and fates.
Some come into our lives to stay as snowflakes on the lawn, But others like the pavement snowflakes, quickly they were gone. Each had an impact on our lives as they would come and go, To help create our scene of life, as freshly fallen snow.
We loved each snowflake as it fell, not knowing of it’s fate, That is the time to pay attention, there’s no time to wait. When the flakes have fallen and the clouds have moved away, The sun will shine on what is left and beautify your day.
