unfair weather

I’M WORRIED ABOUT my friends in Florida, of which there are many. And knowing how stubborn most of them are, everyone decided to stay put and weather Hurricane Frances.

Please be safe, everyone. Floridian friends and readers please check in over the weekend and leave a comment so I know you’re ok. That is one big ol’ ugly looking storm.

I just saw it on the news here in Holland. All those people that are evacuating. I really hope the best for them!!

I’m rather concerned myself. The biggest problem isn’t the high winds, it’s the speed of the hurricane. It’s only moving 10mph, which means at 1000 miles across, it’s going to pound on each area forever.

    Good luck folks.

The speed of the hurricane will cause most of the problems here. It is will take around 24 hours to cross the state and that means a lot of flooding. The people on the East side are going to be in for a very long day when this one decides to come on shore. They will probably be in hurricane force winds for many hours.

Just thought I would say that I found this website on accident. I was bored and went to a website with my name.. and this was it. And it is actually quite interesting.

I wish all your loved ones in the realm (and their pets)safety, comfort, and undamaged property. In pretty much that order.

And everyone else for that matter. I have one friend that it’s too late for. Her hometown was destroyed. All her family and everybody are okay and everything, but she has NO HOMETOWN anymore. Can you frigging imagine? It’s just a pile of debris. Found this out when I was whining about my car dying, she said “yeah? My hometown was eaten by a hurricane.” So I said “you win.”

  7. Sorry, I am stubborn, but I’d feel pretty bad if I evacuated, and came back to 6 dead cats. So I figure I’d stay, keep them alive, and keep myself alive. I fully intend on getting through this storm without a scratch. :)

Hey Molly, I doubt you remember me, but you hugged me at Pastiche a few years ago… :-) I used to go to the breakfast seminars you gave on XHTML, CSS, etc.
Anyway, I moved to Orlando in 2001. We made it through Charley all right, and now we’re hanging in there with Frances. I’m bloggin’ the storm out at

  • Down here in Miami, Florida, we escaped that bullet! I, on the other hand, had to spend the entire storm at the sister hospital where I work. This was on Miami Beach. I hope all that got hit by Charley stayed out of Frances’ way!

  • I’ve also been keeping a kind-of blog on Frances, starting here: http://www.joek.com/blah/200409.shtml#blah20040901

We stayed at my parents’ house in central Boca for the storm, and lost power Saturday. They still don’t have power back, while our home in southwest Boca is fine (except for wet carpets from leaking windows).
