dead rock stars
DAMN I HATE it when I hear great music just to find out it’s from a dead person. Right now it’s Kirsty MacColl, “In These Shoes” – a brilliant piece.

I don’t have that problem so much with dead people as with bands who’ve come and gone.
That’s how I felt when I discovered Nick Drake.
Geof: do you mean bands that were good that should have stayed with it, or bands that sold out, or?
Nikki: Exactly.
That’s how I felt when I found Antonio Vivaldi.
I know what you’re talking about – Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield, Freddie Mercury… Too bad. But at least they left us some good stuff, and that’s what it’s about after all.
Aww man.. it was so sad when she died.
Was a powerboat accident in the med, there’s still a lawsuit about that *sigh*
Check out “The Days” and “Walking Down Madison” for more great stuff by her… r.i.p. kirsty…
Check out her best of CD – Galour. Her version of A New England still sends shivers down my spine.
I know what you mean, Molly. I had the same feeling when I discovered Eva Cassidy and found out she died very much before her time !!! Your site is great ! Thanks !

Everyone: thank you so much for these great comments. Special thanks to DarkCryst for “Walking Down Madison” most especially. I’m looking for New England, David, and Kevin Ross: Thanks for the Eva Cassidy link! Molly
Aw, geez.
I loved her duet ‘Miss Otis Regrets’ with Shane Macgowan/The Pogues. Years later I still learn big events I missed during a six-month sojourn away from everyday life. Sigh.
give some example? a lot lot of example!
some example or layout?
