I foresee blogs replacing bulletin boards / white boards (are they still used?) altogether - both commercial and personal and academic. Companies using the usual contact methods switching to blogs in a more open source manner to solicit product / service improvement. Individuals taking their personalities and ideologies global. I believe this was one of the original ideas behind the Net anyway, right? And I agree with Omni - I'll take thought-provoking content over eye-candy anyday.

The revolution in blogging that *I* keep hoping for is the one where people improve the CONTENT of their blogs, rather than trying to make them "prettier." I often get the impression that the more elaborate blogs are designed that way to hide the lack of anything interesting being posted about; it's easier to add bells and whistles than it is to write originial and insightful essays.

Interesting little story. I'm always annoyed, though, when journalists act as if Blogger was the only logware extant before the Trotts came along and really pushed the logwarescape forward. [Maybe I just spent too much free time doing Greymatter tech support back in the day.]

Interesting little story. I’m always annoyed, though, when journalists act as if Blogger was the only logware extant before the Trotts came along and really pushed the logwarescape forward. [Maybe I just spent too much free time doing Greymatter tech support back in the day.]

Salon Article
Blogging grows up, not as interesting as it could have been, but a good overview of Six Apart. When I talked to Farhod about two weeks ago I estimated around 15k WordPress blogs. Today the WP blog crawler has over 18,000 in its database. Six months ago…

The revolution in blogging that *I* keep hoping for is the one where people improve the CONTENT of their blogs, rather than trying to make them “prettier.” I often get the impression that the more elaborate blogs are designed that way to hide the lack of anything interesting being posted about; it’s easier to add bells and whistles than it is to write originial and insightful essays.

I foresee blogs replacing bulletin boards / white boards (are they still used?) altogether – both commercial and personal and academic. Companies using the usual contact methods switching to blogs in a more open source manner to solicit product / service improvement. Individuals taking their personalities and ideologies global. I believe this was one of the original ideas behind the Net anyway, right? And I agree with Omni – I’ll take thought-provoking content over eye-candy anyday.
