Companies using the usual contact methods switching to blogs in a more open source manner to solicit product / service improvement. Individuals taking their personalities and ideologies global. I believe this was one of the original ideas behind the Net anyway, right? And I agree with Omni - I'll take thought-provoking content over eye-candy anyday. I often get the impression that the more elaborate blogs are designed that way to hide the lack of anything interesting being posted about; it's easier to add bells and whistles than it is to write originial and insightful essays.
