spun: the movie
Jonas Akerlund’s 2003 drug culture film is a must-see. In new-release videos this month in the U.S.
Just don’t take your children.
John Leguizamo, Mena Suvari, Brittany Murphy (whom I love more and more as time goes on) , Jason Schwartzman (who plays a total freak) and Mickey Rourke (who gets ever-freakier over time) – the cast is as fast as the hot cinematic effects and animation.
The soundtrack consists of choices by Billy Corgan. Selecting from talent as diverse as Yes, Ozzy, and Corgan’s post Smashing Pumpkins, now dead, but still awesome band Zwan, the soundtrack features about forty tunes.
“I left alone, my mind was blank
I needed time to think, to get the memories from my mind”
The opening piece, sung by Corgan – The Number of the Beast – is a downer-glazed acoustic journey that juxtaposes the uncontrollable mania of the film’s characters. Listen for the unusual female vocal track. The result is tense and mysterious, haunting and sad.
Sidenote: I’m looking for a high quality collection of the entire soundtrack, let me know if you have one.
Another Sidenote: Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan .com sites all resolve to billycorgan.com He updates his blog, too.

Now does anyone know the name of that vampire band that frisbee is listening/watching in his room.

That “vampire” band is none other than Satyricon, one of the best black metal bands around. Their newer stuff isn’t that great, but check out their first 3 or 4 albums. That video Frisbee is watching is of the song “Mother North” off their Nemesis Divina album. Highly recommended. They have two songs on the soundtrack: the one just mentioned, and the single, “Fuel For Hatred” off their most recent CD, “Volcano”. Hope that helped.
BTW I’m up to 35 songs from the movie DL’ed. All of them are perfect quality, except for most of the Billy Corgan songs, which are ripped straight from the movie. They are not available anywhere else (yet). I’ll keep ya posted.
Billy Corgan did a wondeful job with the score from Spun. This movie is my reality

Thanks for the tip man, time to look into this band.
No prob. Definitely start out with “Nemesis Divina”, and if you like that, check out “Dark Medieval Times” (their first album) and then “The Shadowthrone”. Those are the three best ones. And if you’re really into the band, go ahead and get their old EP, “The Forest is My Throne” and their demo from ‘91. I’d stay away from “Rebel Extravaganza” and “Volcano” though, at least until you hear the albums previously mentioned.
The cameo appearance by Satyricon is one of the reasons why this movie is as good as it is. w00t w00t!
Would definitely like to get a hold of these tracks if possible. If anyone knows where they are to be had, eventually in one location, please let me know, and I shall make it worth your while.

does anyone know the name of the song at the end, they play it at the end of the trailr, there is that humming in it? when nikki is saying im so excited. you know. i need that song in my life.
trailer**
the HUMMING song is Hurdy Gurdy Man by Donovan.
It’s definitely one of the trippiest songs like ever and its really interesting. Its a lot better when you hear the actual words and stuff, unlike in the movie.
THANKS!!!
I have an good quality mp3 copy of every track on the soundtrack if you still want it. I have been looking for ages for it, especially corgans cover of number of the beast.
So drop me an e-mail if you have an ftp where I can dump it for you.
Justin, do you have the Hurdy Gurdy Man song ripped from the movie or the whole thing? I found the whole thing, but I think the humming sample looped was way better.
