Well, it took all night but I’m proud to say that not only am I happily resident on my new web server, but because of the incredibly generous Matt Mullenweg I also am just about all set up in WordPress.
The process would have been much easier had I been more prepared, but I wasn’t. So, Matt had to help me extract all the data from my Movable Type database and export it. Once that hurdle was overcome, the import went very well, and all my posts, comments, and even uncleaned comment spam are all happily resident now. There are a few glitches to clean up (I know, I know) but I’m going to bed now.
WordPress is a joy to install and not only easy to use, but easy to modify - and I don’t even know PHP. I’m just delighted with the easy interface, the simplicity of working with templates, and look ma - NO REBUILDS! It was getting to the point where I could go for a swim, run to the grocery and read a short novel before my site was rebuilt. And that was with under 200 posts and several thousand comments. Imagine if I’d kept growing?
This is not to dis Movable Type, because I love it too, for different reasons. Although I have to admit I’m not fond of the new interface - I think the navigation in 3.0 looks crappy and is difficult to read. But the program is extremely powerful, there’s no question about it. For my purposes, though, it looks as though WordPress is going to suit just fine.
So thank you Matt, and props to MooKitty for additional assistance and ideas, and the gang in #wordpress. You are all so awesome!

Congrats, Molly. I’m semi-secretely running two WordPress installs on my server with which I’ve been playing in order to become familiar enough with it to have it power my website. Also, since I don’t feel like making any big concessions towards WordPress, I have to do some serious hacking to fit it to my needs. It should not take much longer—I’m well beyong 200 entries and I’ve seen houses being built faster than my Weblog alone.

My main issue with Wordpress is the lack of a wysiwyg editor that you can copy and paste in to. http://www.bloki.com provides this, although their overall blog software lacks many of the features of Wordpress

Personally, I never use more than a single link in the comment I post because doing so can trigger spam catchers if the user has that plugin activated, whereas a single link will not.

I am a great lover of wordpress too and quite frankly I can’t do without it. However, I have recently learnt that the Moveable Type software contains some additional features that makes it easie to send “trackbacks” to other blogs.
Apparently, trackbacks are highly beneficial because they allow youto pong specific posts on other blogs, and can often result in the development of link reputation quite quickly. Wordpress has a trackback feature too, but I’ve noticed people talking extensively about this trackback feature in MT. What’s your opinion on this. I’ve noticed you’ve mentioned MType above.
Please let me know and I’ll check back here soon. Also what version of MT would you recommend buying.

I think WP is by far the best CMS, hands down. I use WP on several web sites. Now I have my girlfriend hooked on Wordpress. It’s funny, she is even MORE excited about WordPress than I am! LOL.. Didn’t think that was possible.

This post, however off-topic it may be, is about Internet freedom. \”Network Neutrality\” — the First Amendment of the Internet — ensures that the public can view the smallest blog just as easily as the largest corporate Web site by preventing Internet companies like AT&T from rigging the playing field for only the highest-paying sites.
But Internet providers like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast are spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress to gut Net Neutrality. If Congress doesn\’t take action now to implement meaningful Net Neutrality provisions, the future of the Internet is at risk.
In the end game, only large companies will afford domains if the communications monopolies have their way with this. This of course isnt new news, but its coming to a head and blogs like this one will be a ghosttown unless all of us figure it our pretty darn quick. I wont post any links, but advise that if you value the internet, and blogs likw this one, that you search Google for \”Network Neutrality\” and educate yourself on this issue as it effects all of us.

I once saw him live in UK, he is very well informed regarding goal setting and mind changing approaches. His views on organized religion are a real eye opener, not for the faint hearted!

Site looks great, seems like you got WP setup nicely. I love wordpress myself and it’s turning more into a CMS (content management system) esp with all the newer themes
I have one site (its the url when you click my name) that looks very nice most wouldn’t know its a blog, someone mentioned you should look like CNN in one of the above posts well that theme I am using makes my blog look like a real news site
and then I have another WP blog http://www.snipfiles.com that gives away ebooks and it in no way looks like a blog either. Of course all my other sites do - lol, but again I like the look you choose and you can go really far with WordPress

LOL! … Nice work to get switched over to Word Press. It’s definitely the better of the bunch, and to my experience, you can grow as much as you like and there will be no slow down of the software. It’s independent of the size of the blog pages.
One note above … URI and URL are really interchangeable, although I do prefer URL. Often you’ll file the more geeky among us using the URI.
I really like the name “movable type” because I come from a typography background where, back in the old days, we actually setup pages to be printed with individual letters, called “hand type”. A page would be setup with display headings using hand type. Often a page would have text set on a Linotype machine, and headings with fancier type of this “hand type” kind. It was very movable … lol

Although there does seem to be some controversy over certian hypnosis
courses on the internet, is there really cause for concern?
At the end of the day most people never carry out the “underhand” or “underground”
courses available as they lose interest and move on to something else.
Its long been an opinion of most that hypnosis does not work, but i disagree.
