lance’s tip of the day

In an on-going effort to catch myself up to pop culture speed, I spent the afternoon watching Orange County which I have to say is a masterpiece of the teen comedy genre, no matter how crappy some of the reviews for it were.

Jack Black is absolutely brilliant as Lance. With such a fantastic cast it’s hard to upstage anyone, but I think he stole the show.

    Jack Black is God, man.

I don’t know. Harold Ramis on a little too much E was also a damned fine performance.

Jack Black’s performance reminded me very much of John Belushi in Animal House. I Black is a comic genius in that tradition. He really makes the film and it’s worth watching just for him. Haven’t seen School of Rock yet but hear it’s good.

Here in Skunk Hollow, :”Oh Brother Where Art Thou” is an icon of pop culture- but then local cultural anthroplogist- Bobbie Jane Goodenough came in fourteenth last time they gave out the Pseudo-Nobel Prize for Smatrz in Current Events, on a special programing of Jeopardy ,she answered- the Red River Valley was the Cradle of Civilization, As the looser, she won a all expesce paid trip to Germany to visit thet cannibal fellow and was give a bottle of Thunder Bird to take along for the invite. I think I is just too old to be InSync, Besides everyone I knew died before they could go through Teen Angst – in Viet Nam. I is a dinaosaur and cultural mongrel, time to go back to the cave for i uspets any more :P urists: out there or a whole few generations of Metrosexual culture buffs. ha , that consider anyone that tells it like it is a “professional victim”- sheet, i will not be back so they dont have to worry or fear a challenge to their reasoning of reality, be it satrical or otherwise. I just pray that none of them ever have to make a stand against the insanity in the world with their lives instead of from the comfort of their keyboard and monitor. Adieu , an alas poor frogpickle, i knew him well, bubba, his “out of stupidity” theory of the hominids may prove to be the right paradeim yet.

    Ray –

Clarification, please. Is hominid that stuff that looks like a big corn kernel? Because I think they make “grits” out of that as well.

  6. Ray says:

Ha. Yep, an served with Red Eye Gravy. Sorry if i am confusing, I am 57- a quadradruple breed- Native American (well some of my ancestors arrived here an took things away from whoever else was here) as well as Black and Scotch/Irish-
Served two tours in Nam as a combat medic an came back to a changed world. Bad at satire and long on trying to understand what planet this is ;-) anyway none of that is really relevant. All I is looking for is “Hominy” in the cornfield of life. ok ok. too many brain surgeries and reruns of “Green Acres” which i though was about abscessed teeth here in Skunk Hollow. I also has PTSD ( post-techinical-sequestering-delusions)- The therapists have given up on me. Maybe I will write a book and get hold of Oprah or the Hemlock Society. blessings all.

  7. Keith says:

Thank you for the clarification, Ray. I can see clearly now… the rain is gone.

I think I’m gonna get Ray and Keith a room.

Dang, i got to stop posting, my cousin in Canada just informed me that the correct term for that side of my family now is “First Nations” now i is in dutch with everyone.

  11. Davezilla says:

I saw Jon Cusak interviewed after High Fidelity came out. In reference to directing Jack Black he said, “You don’t really direct Jack Black. You just sort of wind him up and stand back.”

  12. aaron wall says:

It would have been hard for Jack to have been any greater of a slob… the poor ratings are more part of the fact that tons of movies came out around the same couple years within the teen comedy genre
